If you aren’t wrapping bacon around the stuffing at Thanksgiving or whenever you make homemade stuffing then what are you waiting for? Bacon is the glue that can hold anything together!

Air Fryer Bacon Wrapped Stuffing - Recipe Diaries (1)

Bacon wrapped stuffing is the ultimate Thanksgiving appetizer. Screw serving stuffing as a side dish for Thanksgiving this year and make these little puppies instead. 🙂 I first tried bacon wrapped stuffing at a friend's house and I remember it being the best thing I ever had at that party. I asked how it was made and it couldn't be easier.

What Ingredients do I need?

In this section, you can find substitutes or suggestions for certain ingredients. I also will try and list out what the ingredients' purpose is for.

Homemade Stuffing - Use your favorite recipe for making stuffing or use the stuffing that comes in a box. Your choice! I have a recipe for just simple stuffing here. Classic Homemade Stuffing

Bacon - I used thinly sliced bacon to wrap the stuffing in. Cut the bacon into 2 pieces before wrapping the bacon so you get more coverage if you decide to wrap the whole entire stuffing recipe.

How to make Bacon Wrapped Stuffing

To print the full recipe please see the recipe card below.

Set the oven temp to what the instructions say on the back of a stuffing box.

In a bowl, combine the stovetop stuffing mix, cooked sausage, cranberries, poultry seasoning, and diced apple into a bowl. Add in the chicken stock.

Pour into a 9X13 baking dish and bake in an oven for 25 to 30 minutes.

Cut the strips of bacon in half. Place about a tablespoon of the dressing mixture in the center of the bacon and then roll it up. Place on sheet tray lined with foil.

Repeat this process until all the bacon is used up.

To cook the bacon, turn the oven temp to 375 degrees - 400 degrees.

Bake the bacon-wrapped stuffing in a oven until the bacon is cooked. I used the same temperature as the stuffing for 18-20 minutes.

Air Fryer: Place wrapped stuffing in air fryer for 10 to 14 minutes at 350 degrees.

Serving size: 1 bacon-wrapped stuffing.

What air fryers are best?

I've had 3 or 4 different air fryers or the past 5 years and each one of them has worked very well with the air fryer recipes on this site. If you want to be able to cook more food for your family at once then get an air fryer with a large basket such as 5.3 quarts. Look for ones that say nonstick on them and has multiple program settings.

Power XL Air Fryer 5.3 Quart Basket. - This was my very first air fryer.

Our 5.3QT Power Air-Fryer comes in handy in preparing amazing meals from your cookbook, and frying a variety of dishes, such as: French fries, chicken, steak, roasts, fish tacos and sticks, waffle fries, pies, pudding and donuts.

Ninja Foodi Grill and Air Fryer - This air fryer works very well too but the air fryer setting doesn't go below 300 degrees. If there's a recipe that calls for lower temperatures you have to use the bake setting. It air frys, roasts, grills, and dehydrates food.

FAQs

Can you put tin foil in an air fryer with bacon? ›

Also, make sure your air fryer is clean. Don't Worry About Foil. While you can line the basket with it if you like, I found the air fryer was very easy to clean even without it. If you use foil, ensure it's not touching any part of the heating element or fan.

Why does bacon shrink in air fryer? ›

Because bacon is so fatty, cooking it at high temps in your air fryer will typically cause all the fat to drip off, shrinking the strips down to just the lean parts, and also potentially causing all that dripping hot fat to fill your kitchen with smoke.

Does air frying bacon make a mess? ›

In just nine minutes, you can have hot bacon ready to serve. The best part about the air fryer is that the grease collects underneath the basket in the drawer, so there's no grease splatters in the kitchen and the grease is a cinch to discard (simply tip the drawer to pour off).

Why can't you use aluminum foil in an air fryer? ›

Air frying uses the rapid circulation of hot air to cook and crisp your food. While lining your air fryer with foil might seem like a convenient way to minimize cleanup, it's not recommended. Foil can disrupt the airflow within the appliance, preventing food from cooking evenly.

Does bacon need to be flipped in air fryer? ›

You only have to try cooking bacon in the Air Fryer once for it to become your new favorite way to cook bacon. It's perfectly crisp every time and since the air circulates, there's no need to flip the bacon halfway.

What happens to the grease from bacon in an air fryer? ›

What happens to the grease from bacon in an air fryer? It drains! Unlike stovetop or oven-cooked bacon, the air fryer allows the bacon grease to drip into the pan, leaving you with crispier, healthier bacon.

What is the white stuff when frying bacon? ›

The exudate contained 76-88% water, 80-130 mg/g protein and 2-6% NaCl, depending on the type of bacon and method of cooking. SDS-PAGE patterns of bacon exudate were similar to those of pork drip, suggesting it consists mainly of sarcoplasmic proteins.

Is there a negative to using air fryer? ›

Studies show that using an air fryer can increase the levels of cholesterol oxidation products (COPs) in fish. COPs are linked to an increase in heart disease, cancer and other medical conditions.

Is bacon better in the oven or air fryer? ›

Air fryer bacon is so crispy, and the grate in the air fryer allows some of the bacon fat to drip off as it cooks. This method is also a littler faster than baking bacon in the oven. The only downside to this method is unless you have a giant air fryer, you can't cook more than a few servings at once.

What not to do when cooking bacon? ›

Crowding the Pan

Crowding creates steam and prevents the bacon from cooking evenly, giving you limp bacon instead of crispy strips. Cook in batches if needed.

Is it OK to cook bacon on aluminum foil? ›

Cooking bacon in the oven gives you perfectly crispy slices without any flipping or fussing, and the cleanup is superspeedy. It's also the best way to make bacon for a crowd. You can cook the bacon directly on aluminum foil-lined baking sheets or on a wire rack set on top of the baking sheets.

Can you wrap raw bacon in aluminum foil? ›

While most of these methods would be fine for storing bacon for a day or two, the glass container, foil, and plastic wrap methods were the most successful for longer-term storage.

How long should you leave bacon in the air fryer? ›

Instructions. Place the bacon slices evenly, in a single layer, inside the air fryer basket. Air fry bacon at 360°F for 7-9 minutes for regular cut bacon or 12-14 minutes for thick cut bacon. We used thick cut bacon for this recipe and cooked it for 13 minutes until crispy.
