Annabeth Albert is an author renowned for her unique approach to the genre of romance.

Annabeth Albert will be the first to tell you that she has loved romance for as long as she could remember. It’s one of those genres that always appealed to her. In fact, she often reminisces about having to hide the romance novels under her bed covers, reading them by the torchlight even while hoping to remain inconspicuous.
Back then, Annabeth’s interests in the romance genre were pretty specific. Over time, her tastes grew and came to encompass all manner of subgenres within the field of romance.
And today, she isn’t afraid to publicize her all-consuming passion for all things romance. Not many voracious readers can claim to have added so much to the very field of literature they loved as a child; but that is exactly what Annabeth has done, becoming a multi-published Pacific Northwest romance writer.
Annabeth’s stories have been called sexy, emotionally compelling and surprisingly funny. Those are the kinds of stories Annabeth always gravitated to as a child, so it comes as no surprise that she has learned to reproduce them.
The passionate gay rights supporter is always looking for unique pairings to explore in her novels, individuals with variable quirks but whom, through Annabeth’s creativity, can find common ground.
While Annabeth loves to write, the activity doesn’t consume her every waking hour. Rather, she also has a day job, one that is not only rewarding but which she has shown no signs of throwing aside for the sake of her writing career.
Additionally, her two toddlers keep Annabeth rather busy, this while proving inspirational in the writing process. Annabeth has described herself as a professional grammar nerd, obsessive reader, and a frequent tweeter.
+Served Hot
Portland, Oregon is brimming with coffee shops and restaurants, not to mention bakeries, many of them operated by hard-working men ready to meet weary customers who walk through their doors every day.
As far as Baristas go, Robby doesn’t appear to be anything special. The self-employed individual boasts a pretty busy cart, though the crush he has been nurturing for David, one of his customers, has proven to be quite the distraction.
The finance director doesn’t work too far off from Robby’s cart; he always eats lunch by himself, seemingly lost in his own world. It isn’t until David finally appears at a Portland Pride Festival that Robby finds the courage to take their relationship to the next level.
David isn’t in the best place. Having recently lost his longtime lover, David hasn’t been single for that long, and he is clearly still grieving. The fact that he is uncertain as to whether he is ready to date again doesn’t stop Robby from moving forward
People appreciate this book because it tells such a touching and sweet story. David and Robby seem like simple enough guys when you meet them. But Annabeth Albert does a good job of digging beneath the surface and revealing the layers they are hiding.
The tension in the book, at least at the start, is driven by questions about which of the two protagonists will make the first more. While the book is teeming with sexual elements, they do not overtake the rest of the plot which finds Robby and David exploring the manner in which their sexuality has affected their personal lives, the status of their relationships with friends and family and the like.
Both protagonists appear to be stuck in a bad place when readers first meet them. As such, both characters need a bit of a push to get things going. The result is a lot of earnest interactions about each character’s demons and the best way to move forward.
Some people love everything Annabeth Albert does. For that reason, they will eat this book up without any reservations. However, even readers that are a little hesitant when it comes to Annabeth’s style will find a lot to love about this book.
+Wrapped Together
There are a lot of hardworking men in the bustling restaurants, shops, and cafes of Portland in Oregon. Hollis Alcott is one such individual. Life hasn’t been easy for Hollis, and Christmas only makes things more complicated.
He is always reminded of the tragic events that overtook him in previous years. As such, for Hollis, the Portland Festive Cheer has nothing but heartache to offer. Sawyer Murphy changes everything.
The good looking gift shop owner has a brother who is married to Hollis’ sister. Sawyer will do everything in his power this Christmas to force Hollis out of his blues. It doesn’t take long for the embers of newfound passion to begin blooming.
Struggle as he might, Hollis cannot maintain his icy attitude, especially when he is forced to realize that it is within his power once more to find trust in others.
There are a lot of positive opinions surrounding this book; people have lauded the story for being enjoyable and the novel for delivering some interesting drama.
The book kicks things off with Christmas around the corner. Since the death of his parents some years ago, Hollis has found it all but impossible to celebrate the holidays. That is where his fellow shop owner Sawyer comes into play.
The fact that Hollis’ twin sister is married to Sawyer’s twin brother creates some complications. However, Sawyer’s vibrant and outgoing personality quickly extinguishes Hollis’ reservations.
The fact that Hollis is introverted and stuffy proves to be an even bigger impediment, but Sawyer will not be denied. Anyone with a passion for Christmas-themed romance novels will enjoy this book because it is heavily steeped in the Christmas spirit.
Sawyer makes for interesting reading because he is so fun and happy and more than ready to embrace life. Hollis, on the other hand, is stuffy, reflective and immersed in disturbing levels of loneliness.
The stark differences between the two characters make it all the more compelling to watch them form a genuine connection. The one complaint many readers seem to have is the fact that Annabeth Albert doesn’t give Sawyer a POV.
The fact that Sawyer’s perspective of events was missing left this book a little incomplete.
